The great adventure begins today! After receiving your Tibet visa, the motorbike journey officially starts as you leave behind the bustling streets of Kathmandu. The route takes you through winding mountain roads, lush green hills, and remote villages. You’ll first follow the Prithvi Highway before turning towards the Kerung border.
This is a long and challenging ride, passing through Nuwakot, Dhunche, and the scenic Langtang National Park. After a full day of adventure, you’ll arrive in Syabrubesi, the last Nepalese town before the Tibetan border.
After breakfast, you’ll ride 18 km to the Nepal-Tibet border at Rasuwagadhi, where you’ll complete the necessary immigration and customs formalities. Once cleared, you’ll cross into Tibet and continue riding for another 24 km to reach Kerung, your first stop on the Tibetan plateau.
Here, you’ll immediately experience the unique Tibetan culture and stunning mountain landscapes. Since proper acclimatization is essential at high altitudes, the remainder of the day is reserved for adjusting to the thinner air and mountainous environment.
Today, you’ll journey deep into the heart of the Tibetan plateau. The landscapes become vast and surreal, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including the towering peaks of Cho Oyu (8,201 m) and Shishapangma (8,012 m).
The high altitude and rugged terrain make this ride physically demanding, but the reward is unforgettable—upon reaching Tingri, you’ll catch your first stunning glimpse of Mount Everest (8,848 m) rising above the horizon.
Today is one of the major highlights of the entire journey! You’ll ride across the stunning Gawu La Pass (5,198 m), where you’ll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of five of the world’s highest peaks.
Upon arrival in Rongbuk, you’ll visit the Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, located at the base of Mount Everest.
